Follows Ron Kovic's journey from a volunteer to fight in the Vietnam War; through tragedies committed during the fog of war and his subsequent injury, suffering and disability; to his reawakening as an anti-war activist. Tom Cruise is exceptional, playing the role to perfection. Oliver Stone's first Vietnam War film Platoon (1985) dealt strictly with the war, this film concerns the aftermath. Won Oscars for Best Director and Best Editing; received 6 other nominations including Best Picture, Best Actor and Best Cinematography.
