Swedish journalist and magazine co-owner Mikael Blomkvist, reeling from a damaging libel suit brought against him by businessman Hans-Erik Wennerstr�m, makes a deal with tycoon Henrik Vanger that would allow him access to damning information about Wennerstr�m in exchange for research performed into the disappearance of Vanger's grandniece four decades prior. When Blomkvist discovers the existence of a notebook containing names and numbers of unknown origin and purpose upon relocating to the Vanger estate, he must turn to Lisbeth Salander, a brilliant-yet-mentally ill computer hacker, to assist him in getting down to the bottom of a burgeoning mystery. Won an Academy Award for Best Editing; nominated for Best Actress, Best Cinematography, Best Sound Editing, and Best Sound Mixing.
